House of Hackney
Brand storytelling, End to End Production
Case Study
We worked with interiors company and B Corp House of Hackney to tell the story of their brand, ethos and supply chain, with a particular focus on sustainability. Over three months DRIFT visited core suppliers, from heritage tile manufacturers in Shropshire to silk mills in Norfolk and wallpaper printers in Sweden.
Stylistically, the films combine vintage film and digital formats to create a gently nostalgic visual language and a sense of reflective storytelling. The finished pieces became central assets in House of Hackney’s sustainability storytelling, used across their website, social channels and retail communications.
Our End to End Production Process
From the spark of an idea, through logistics, planning crewing, shooting and post production
Consultation, Budget, Ideation
The project began with a loose concept: House of Hackney wanted to share their story in an authentic, stylised way. Through creative consultation, DRIFT developed an approach that fitted the brief, budget and timeframe, shaping a supplier‑led journey through the brand. To respect the budget, the team worked with a lean crew: a shooting producer‑director and an assistant covering camera and photography.
Shoot Planning, Scheduling, Crewing
Working with the in‑house team, DRIFT coordinated with suppliers and makers, developing storyboards and shoot plans that highlighted each supplier’s craft, process and history. With a small crew, planning was meticulous, with detailed recces and shot lists guiding each filming day.
Post Production
The project required a broad slate of deliverables. DRIFT created eight mid‑length story films in multiple ratios for web and social, plus a suite of cut‑downs for use across channels. Post‑production ran over roughly two months, with close creative collaboration between DRIFT and House of Hackney supported by online review tools to keep feedback clear and efficient.
Review
A post‑project debrief is scheduled once the work has run, so everyone can reflect on the process, performance and opportunities for future refinement. Projects remain accessible online for one month after delivery; after this, all materials are deleted unless long‑term storage has been agreed and paid for in advance.
